2025 Immaculata Men's Lacrosse Season Recap

SEASON OVERVIEW
 
The Immaculata men's lacrosse team had an historic season in 2025, winning an IU program record 14 games. The Mighty Macs went 14-6 overall, boasting a 5-0 record in Atlantic East Conference regular season play, and captured their first Atlantic East Conference Championship, and earned their first NCAA Tournament appearance.
 
The 2025 season opened on Saturday, February 15th with Immaculata falling to Arcadia 11-9 on a wet, snowy, and cold afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium. After falling to Drew University in the opening game of the Leanos Cup Tournament 9-8 in overtime, Immaculata was 3-5 on the season. Immaculata defeated Manhattanville 12-9 in the consolation game of the Leanos Cup on Sunday, March 16th. That game began a program record 11-game win streak that culminated with winning the AEC Championship. Immaculata went undefeated in conference play capturing their first Atlantic East Conference Regular Season title to earn the first seed, and secured home field advantage for the Atlantic East Conference Tournament.
 
Immaculata defeated Gwynedd Mercy 20-9 in the AEC Semifinals on April 26th, setting up a match-up with Marymount, who defeated Marywood in the other Semifinal. Immaculata defeated Marymount 15-12 in the AEC Championship Game in front of a packed house at Draper Walsh Stadium on May 3rd to capture the program's first Atlantic East Conference Championship.
 
Immaculata earned the Atlantic East Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Immaculata fell to the University of Scranton in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament at Weiss Field at the University of Scranton.

In his second season as Head Coach Will Pilat had led Immaculata to an overall record of 23-13, and they are 8-3 in Atlantic East Conference regular season play.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • David Azzarano was named Atlantic East Conference Player of the Year and was named to the All-Atlantic East Conference First Team and was a USILA Honorable Mention All-American. Azzarano set program records for assists in a season with 52, and points in a season with 97. He also scored a career-high 45 goals this season. Azzarano became the program's all-time leading scorer with a goal at Drew on March 14th with his 227th career point. He had three goals and tied program records for assists in a game with eight, and points in a single game with 11 in Immaculata's Semifinal win over Gwynedd Mercy on April 26th. Azzarano finishes his career with 144 goals, 147 assists, and 291 points.
  • Bailey Manion was named to the All-Atlantic East Conference Second Team. Manion scored a program single season record 53 goals, with 20 assists for 73 points. He scored his single season record goal in Immaculata's NCAA Tournament game at Scranton. On April 12th, Manion scored his 153rd career goal vs Marywood to break the program's career goal scoring record. He scored six goals in Immaculata's Semifinal win over Gwynedd Mercy. Manion tied his own program single season record for goals in a game with eight goals in the AEC Championship Game to earn Championship MVP honors. Manion finishes his career with 173 goals, 87 assists for 260 points.
  • Aidan Lawrence was named Atlantic East Conference Co-Defender of the Year and was named to the All-Atlantic East Conference First-Team. Lawrence led Immaculata with 67 ground balls averaging 3.35 per game and led the Atlantic East Conference with 36 caused turnovers.
  • Matthew Ludlow was named to All-Atlantic East Conference First Team for the third consecutive season. Ludlow made 229 saves on 645 shots faced. He was 11-6 with .592 save percentage, averaging 12.05 saves per game. Ludlow made 13 saves on 37 shots faced including three saves in the fourth quarter when protecting a one goal lead in the AEC Championship Game win over Marymount. He made 20 saves in the NCAA Tournament game at Scranton. That was the third time this season that Ludlow made 20 saves in a single game.
  • Colton Rhoades had a breakout season on the defensive end for Immaculata earning All-Atlantic East Conference First Team Honors. Rhoades finished with 44 ground balls and finished second on the team in caused turnovers with 23. With Immaculata protecting a 13-12 lead with under three minutes remaining in the AEC Championship game, Rhoades got a huge, caused turnover and ground ball for Immaculata. Following a time-out, Immaculata would go down and score to increase their lead to 14-12 on that possession.
  • Joseph Biuso earned All-Atlantic East Conference First Team honors after registering career highs in goals with 35, assists with 13, and points with 48. Biuso scored four goals in a game three times this season, including four against Gwynedd Mercy in the AEC Semifinals. He had a goal and an assist in the AEC Championship Game and had three assists in the NCAA Tournament game vs Scranton.
  • Connor Teears earned All-Atlantic East Conference Second Team honors after registering career highs in goals with 29, assists with 17, and points with 46. Teears had four goals and one assist in the win over Manhattanville that started the Mighty Macs program record setting 11 game win streak. He had a goal and three assists in the AEC Semifinal win over Gwynedd Mercy.
  • Ryan Gorman had a breakout sophomore season scoring 33 goals, with nine assists, for 42 points. Gorman scored with 1:22 remaining in the fourth quarter to give Immaculata a 15-12 lead as the Mighty Macs closed out the championship. Gorman had two goals in the NCAA Tournament game at Scranton.
  • Ben Wesolowski registered career-highs in goals with 22, assists with nine, and points with 31. Wesolowski scored his most memorable goal in the fourth quarter of the AEC Championship Game vs Marymount when he received a pass and scored on a behind the back shot with 9:04 remaining to give Immaculata a 13-11 lead at the time.
  • Robbie Wishart brought leadership as the team captain this season earning All-Atlantic East Conference Second Team Honors. Wishart had four goals, two assists for six points, with 46 ground balls, and 18 caused turnovers. Wishart had two ground balls and a caused turnover in the AEC Championship Game.
  • Daniel Alvarez earned All-Atlantic East Conference Second Team honors with 39 ground balls, and 17 caused turnovers. He had three ground balls and a caused turnover in the AEC Championship Game, and five ground balls in the NCAA Tournament game at Scranton.
  • Jason Smaron had a strong freshman season scoring 16 goals, with 14 assists for 30 points. He had a pair of four goal games vs Rosemont on March 19th, and Centenary on April 22nd. He scored a goal in the NCAA Tournament game at Scranton.
