Men's Lacrosse Falls to Marymount in AEC Championship

Arlington, Va. – The Immaculata men's lacrosse team fell to Marymount 11-7 in the Atlantic East Conference Championship game on Saturday afternoon. Immaculata battled early, but a decisive second quarter proved costly for the Mighty Macs.
 
Ryan Gorman paced the attack early, finishing with two goals and an assist, while Jason Smaron and Jude Azzarano each contributed a goal and an assist. Matthew Ludlow made 15 saves in his final game in a Mighty Mac uniform, and he finished his career with 976 career saves and a career 0.616 save percentage.
 
Seth Panowitz was named the Atlantic East Conference Elite Scholar Award winner for having the top cumulative GPA at the finals site.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MARYMOUNT
  • Immaculata came out with energy, opening the scoring at 11:36 when Aaron Headley scored unassisted. Marymount responded, scoring three consecutive goals to take a 3-1 lead. Ryan Gorman scored unassisted, and Jude Azzarano scored on an assist from Nick Senatore, sending the game into the second quarter tied 3-3.
  • Marymount used a surge in possession to take control in the second. The Macs were held scoreless despite multiple opportunities, while Marymount capitalized on extended offensive sets to score four unanswered goals to take a 7-3 lead into halftime.
  • Immaculata showed resilience coming out of the break, as Ryan Gorman found the cage to halt the Marymount run and get the Macs on the board. Defensively, Immaculata tightened up, but Marymount added two goals to maintain a four-goal lead going into the fourth quarter.
  • The Mighty Macs made a late push, outscoring Marymount in the final frame. Daniel Alvarez, Brody Moore, and Jude Azzarano each recorded goals as Immaculata continued to battle until the final whistle. Despite the late momentum, the earlier deficit proved too much to overcome.
