HEAD COACH WILL PILAT ON THE AEC TOURNAMENT

"We are really looking forward to hosting the Conference Semifinals, having the second year in a row of Immaculata hosting a playoff game is a great testament to the work of our upperclassmen and senior class," said Head Coach Will Pilat. "It has been truly a special year for our program, going undefeated in conference play and earning the #1 seed. We are excited to compete and look forward to hosting a formidable opponent Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday."

When asked what his team will need to do to be successful against Gwynedd Mercy Pilat explained "The biggest key to success for our team in this game is going to be groundballs. We preach it all the time to our staff, but groundballs are the most important statistic of the game. Beginning with our faceoff unit, which has stepped up with great wing play from Aidan Lawrence, Robbie Wishart, and Colton Rhoades. We also need to have a balance of offense with different weapons being able to cause damage. David Azzarano is having a tremendous season again and looks to wrap up his fantastic career here with a good game on Saturday along with our other starters on attack and 2nd/3rd leading scorers respectively: Connor Teears, and Bailey Manion have also had great 4-year careers at IU with good seasons this year. "

"Truly a special year for us, breaking multiple team and individual records for our program, and competing at a high level," concluded Pilat. "To see the program taking the next steps forward has been special and exciting for me and our coaches to be a part of. With the potential of hosting an AEC Championship game at home, is a fantastic opportunity for us as we are trying to enjoy every moment of the remainder of our season."

UP NEXT
  • The winner of Saturday's semifinal will advance to the Atlantic East Conference Championship Game on Saturday, May 3rd vs the winner of the Marymount vs Marywood Semifinal. With the highest remaining seed hosting.
  • If Immaculata advances they would host the Championship game here at Draper Walsh Stadium on May 3rd.
