HADDONFIELD, N.J. — The Atlantic East Conference announced its weekly awards on Monday afternoon, with five Immaculata University student-athletes earning recognition for their outstanding performances this past week.
Emily Guthier of women's soccer was named AEC Defensive Player of the Week, while
Alexis Andrada (field hockey),
Mia Esposito (women's volleyball),
Mike DeMattei (men's swimming), and
Ashley Batejan (women's swimming) were each selected to the AEC Weekly Honor Roll in their respective sports.
Emily Guthier (Sewell, N.J. / Washington Township) was named Defensive Player of the Week in women's soccer. Guthier had a strong week in goal for the Mighty Macs, totaling nine saves across two matches. She recorded four saves in a shutout performance during Immaculata's 1–0 conference victory over Neumann on Wednesday, before adding five more saves against Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday to hold the Griffins to just one goal.This marks the third time in her Immaculata career that Guthier has earned AEC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Alexis Andrada (Maple Shade, N.J. / Maple Shade) was named the AEC Weekly Honor Roll for Field Hockey. Andrada continued her stellar season, scoring her team-leading 11th goal of the year before assisting on the overtime game-winner in a 3–2 victory over Gwynedd Mercy that clinched an AEC playoff berth for the Mighty Macs. This was Andrada's third time being named to the Weekly Honor Roll this season along with earning Player of the Week Honors on September 8.
Mia Esposito (Havertown, Pa. / Haverford High) was named to the AEC Weekly Honor Roll for Women's Volleyball. Esposito led Immaculata with 15 kills, five digs, and four total blocks in the Mighty Macs' lone match of the week against Marywood on Saturday. Her performance was highlighted with a 4.50 points per set average coupled with a 3.75 kills per set average. This marks the third time this season Esposito has been named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Mike DeMattei (Broomall, Pa. / Marple Newtown) was named to the AEC Weekly Honor Roll for Men's Swimming. DeMattei led the Mighty Macs with two individual victories in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.99) and 200-yard individual medley (2:12.76). The junior also added a runner-up finish in the 100-yard backstroke (59.26), earning a split in the tri-meet with Elizabethtown and Goucher. On Saturday, DeMattei captured first place in the 200-yard Individual Medley (2:08.09), added a runner-up finish in the 100-yard Backstroke (58.92), and was a member of the winning 400-yard Medley Relay in the dual meet win over Moravian.
Ashley Batejan (Haddon Heights, N.J. / Paul VI) was named to the AEC Weekly Honor Roll for Women's Swimming. Batejan had a dominant start to the season with four individual victories across the two meets. She swept the 50-yard freestyle (27.39), 100-yard backstroke (1:07.44), and 50-yard butterfly (29.79) vs Elizabethtown and Goucher. The sophomore then added another win in the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.44) against Moravian while contributing to the first-place 400-yard freestyle relay (4:09.29).
