Gigi Fox’s OT Goal Propels Mighty Macs Past Gwynedd Mercy, Clinches Playoff Berth

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa.- The Immaculata University Field Hockey earned a crucial Atlantic East Conference victory on Saturday, defeating Gwynedd Mercy 3–2 in overtime to clinch a spot in the conference playoffs.
 
Gigi Fox played the hero for the Mighty Macs, netting the game-winning goal 4:16 into the overtime period off an assist from Alexis Andrada.
 
Andrada also scored her 11th goal of the season earlier in the match, while Emilyn Bivens tallied her first goal of the year to help Immaculata rally from a 2–1 deficit.
 
With the win Immaculata improves to 7-11 overall, and they are 2-1 in Atlantic East Conference play, while Gwynedd Mercy falls to 2-13 overall, and 0-3 in Atlantic East Conference play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST GWYNEDD MERCY
  • Alexis Andrada opened the scoring 10:53 into the first quarter with a Spin-O-Rama goal to give Immaculata a 1-0 lead.
  • Gwynedd Mercy tied the game at 1-1 14:36 into the first quarter when Abby LePage scored on a penalty stroke.
  • Gwynedd Mercy took the lead 4:50 in the second quarter, when Mackenzie Reed scored off a penalty corner to give the Griffins a 2-1 lead.
  • Emilyn Bivens tied the score at 13:22 of the second quarter when she shot a rebound into the cage to send the game to halftime tied at 2-2.
  • The game remained scoreless throughout the second half and headed to overtime.
  • Gigi Fox scored the game winning goal 4:16 in overtime off a feed from Alexis Andrada to give the Mighty Macs the 3-2 win.
