Field Hockey Hosts Marywood in AEC Showdown Wednesday Afternoon

WHAT TO KNOW
  • The Immaculata Field Hockey team (6-10, 1-0 AEC) return to Draper Walsh Stadium on Wednesday, when they host Marywood in an important AEC game at 4 p.m.
  • Immaculata enters Wednesday's game after defeating Manhattanville 2-0 on Friday in their AEC opener in Purchase, N.Y.
  • Marywood (7-8, 2-0 AEC) came from behind to defeat Neumann 3-2 in their AEC game at home on Saturday.
  • Wednesday's is game part of a Pink Out Doubleheader for Breast Cancer Awareness.

  • Immaculata and Manhattanville are meeting for the 23rd time in their series that began in 2006.

  • Alexis Andrada scored her 10th goal of the season at 12:28 of the third quarter on Friday to increase the Immaculata lead to 2-0.
  • Mackenzie Schrack earned her third shutout of the season by making two saves, including stopping a penalty stroke 4:55 into the first quarter, to keep the game scoreless.
  • Gabrielle O'Brien got on the score sheet for a second consecutive game, assisting on Berenato's goal.
  • Maria Freeman and Taylor Eagan provided strong play in the midfield for Immaculata.
  • The Immaculata defensive core of Rachel Madden, Victoria Atkinson, and Abby Fekete limited Manhattanville to just two shots on goal.
 
SCOUTING MARYWOOD
  • Marywood has registered 3-2 come-from-behind victories in each of their first two AEC games this season. Trailing 2-1 to Gwynedd Mercy on October 11, and 2-0 Neumann on October 18, the Pacers have been able to comeback to earn the wins.
  • Senior forward Darianne Jones scored her ninth and tenth goals of the season to tie and had the game winner in their victory over Neumann on Saturday. Jones, who scored the game winner in last year's AEC Final against Immaculata, leads the Pacers with 10 goals and 25 points.
  • Sophomore forward Brooke Barwick has nine goals and 23 points.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Bre Marchiano has started six games including both AEC wins, making 44 saves on 62 shots faced.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Sabrina Frazier started eight games and has made 47 saves on 75 shots faced.
 
AEC WEEKLY HONORS
  • Maria Freeman was named AEC Defensive Player of the Week. Freeman anchored the defense in a 2-0 shutout win over Manhattanville, limiting the Valiants to just two shots on goal. She played a key role in both midfield control and penalty corner defense.
  • Maria Berenato was named to the AEC Weekly Honor Roll. Berenato scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over Manhattanville on Friday. Berenato's second-quarter strike broke the deadlock and set the tone for a strong conference opener.
