Field Hockey Drops Game At Cabrini, 2-0

Box Score

RADNOR, Pa.- The Immaculata field hockey team (5-11, 3-2 CSAC) travelled to Cabrini looking to rebound from their loss to Marywood on Saturday, but the first-place Cavaliers (8-6, 6-0 CSAC) scored a goal in each half and came away with a 2-0 conference victory.  With the loss, the Mighty Macs fell into a tie for third place with Marywood and Neumann, who they play on Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium.

Immaculata started the game off with some offensive pressure as they had a few early corners, but they were unable to take advantage of the opportunities.  The defenses ruled the first half for the most part until the Cavaliers broke through in the 29th minute and beat freshman goalie Sarah Pasternak, who made five saves on the day.  Kerry Anne Farrell scored on an assist from Kylie McDevitt for the 1-0 Cabrini advantage.

Shortly after the Cavaliers took the lead, sophomore Lindsay Cras led a rush and ripped a shot, but it was kicked away by the Cabrini goalie to keep it 1-0 Cabrini going to halftime.

Pasternak played even better in the second half picking up four of her five saves, but Cabrini put the game away with a goal in the 60th minute by Karlie Gruccio to seal the 2-0 Cabrini win.

The Mighty Macs will look to end their three game slide on Saturday against Neumann at 1 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
