Griffins Down Immaculata In Series Opener

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa.- Gwynedd-Mercy scored six runs over the first four innings to put the game out of Immaculata's reach as the Griffins beat the Mighty Macs 9-2 in the opening game of their three game CSAC series on Friday afternoon.

Immaculata started the scoring in the first as TJ Warner singled to left field advancing Matt Hardy who then scored on a Gwynedd-Mercy error.

The Griffins plated three runs in the bottom of the frame and struck again with a single in the third and two more in the fourth to extend the lead, 6-1.

The Mighty Macs scored its second run of the game in the eighth when TJ Warner's single plated Hardy. Gwynedd-Mercy sealed the win with three insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Immaculata starter Matt Dolan allowed five earned runs on 12 hits in 5.2 innings of work.  Joe Caria came in relief for Dolan and gave up two earned runs in two innings.

TJ Warner finished the game 3-for-4 and Joe Karbowsky went 2-for-4 for Immaculata.

Immaculata hosts Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday, April 14 to complete their three-game series with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
