FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -The Immaculata University baseball team concluded its spring break trip Thursday afternoon with a 9-5 loss to Methodist in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Immaculata struck first off of
Brett Knazek's two-RBI single to left field that scored
Eli Vottero and
Joe DiGiaimo.
Methodist knotted the score, 2-2, with a single in the third and the fourth but the Mighty Macs went ahead on a homerun from Knazek in the fourth.
The Monarchs tied the score again in the fourth with a single before Immaculata took its final lead of the game, 5-3, in the sixth off a RBI-double from
Matt Bolden who would later score on T.J. Warner's bunt.
Methodist exploded for the lead on a two-out, three-run triple in a four-run seventh inning before extending its lead with three runs in the eighth to earn the win.
Knazek finished 2-for-4 at the plate and a team-high three RBI.
Brandon Seibert,
Joe Karbowsky, Warner, Bolden, and Hardy each contributed one hit apiece.
Bryan McHale started the game allowing two runs on four hits over six innings. Relief pitcher Ernell Harley entered the game in the seventh giving up two runs and took the loss.
Immaculata is back in action on Sunday, March 11 at Wilkes for a doubleheader at 12 p.m.
