IMMACULATA, Pa.- Immaculata University's baseball team earned a 6-4 victory in a non-conference matchup over Arcadia on Wednesday afternoon.
Joe DiGiaimo started the scoring for the Mighty Macs as the hosts took the lead in the first inning. Arcadia answered with two runs in the third but Immaculata knocked in two runs from
Eli Vottero and
Matt Hardy in the bottom of the frame to reclaim the lead, 3-2.
Immaculata extended the lead in the fourth on
Billy Gaines single that scored
Joe Karbowsky.
Matt Hardy took advantage of an Arcadia error and added a single run in the fifth before closing out the scoring for Immaculata with another single in the seventh on
Matt Bolden's single.
Arcadia posted two runs in the ninth to close out the scoring for the Knights.
Hardy went 3-for-4 at the plate while Bolden and Vottero went 1-for-4 to lead Immaculata. Bolden also posted a team-high two RBIs.
Aaron Dietrich last 8.0 innings allowing eight hits and struck out five batters.
Joseph Caria pitched the final inning and only allowed one hit for the save.
Immaculata returns to the field on Saturday, March 31 hosting Baptist Bible for a doubleheader at 12 p.m.
