Baseball Concludes Season At Wesley

DOVER, Del.Patrick Boulware hit a three-run homer in the opener and Matt Hardy was 3-for-3 and Joe Rawlings went 2-for-3 with three RBI in the nightcap, but Immaculata dropped both ends of a non-league doubleheader at Wesley College, 9-3 and 19-7, in the season finale of the Mighty Macs inaugural campaign Sunday afternoon.

Immaculata concludes the 2010 slate 12-25 overall. Wesley improves to 21-13 overall.

The Mighty Macs scored three runs in the top of the first, but surrendered six in the bottom half to fall behind 6-3 after one. The two teams traded a run in each of the next two frames before Wesley broke things open with six in the fourth, two in the fifth and three more in the sixth. Immaculata was only able to answer with single tallies in the fourth and seventh.

Kris Hazlett (0-1) suffered the loss, lasting 2.1 innings and yielding eight runs, only three of them earned, on six hits. He walked three and struck out two.

Rawlings hit a two-run double to right-center in the top of the first, plating Hardy and David News. Joe Caria added an RBI groundout that put the Mighty Macs up 3-0. Hardy added an RBI single in the second and Brandon Seibert knocked in a run on a fielder's choice.

Rawlings hit an RBI single in the fourth, and News hit an RBI double in the seventh for all of Immaculata's runs.

In the opener, Boulware smashed a three-run homer on the first pitch he saw in the fifth inning to cut the Mighty Macs' deficit to 8-3. But, that would be as close as Immaculata would come in the 9-3 setback.

Richard Cusic (1-3) pitched a complete game, suffering the loss. He surrendered nine runs on nine hits, walked six and struck out three.
