Baseball Splits Sunday's Twinbill Against Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. - After falling in the opener, 12-2, Immaculata University rallied for a 7-3 win in game two against Marywood University as the squads split Sunday's Colonial States Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader.

Immaculata moves to 9-13 overall and 4-5 in the CSAC while Marywood now stands at 11-13, 6-3 CSAC.

Immaculata rebounded in game two with the 7-3 win as Aaron Dietrich pitched a complete game on his way to his third win of the year after allowing three runs on seven hits.

David News, Brandon Seibert and Richard Cusic led the Immaculata offense with two hits apiece, and Cusic had two RBI on the day. 

Immaculata got out to a 3-0 lead after scoring two runs in the second and one more in the third. Marywood scored one run in the bottom of the fourth to get on the scoreboard.

The Mighty Macs came back with two runs in the top half of each the fifth and sixth, extending their lead to 7-2 through six.

Jeff Cleary took the loss for the Pacers on the mound after allowing three earned runs on 10 hits in 4.2 innings of work.

In game one, with the score tied 1-1, Marywood used a nine-run fifth to open up the game.

News collected two hits in the opener, a double and a triple for Immaculata. Andrew Dietrich took the loss on the mound after allowing just two earned runs in 4.2 innings of work. Andrew McCoy pitched the final 1.1 innings, allowing five hits and two earned runs.

Marywood's Mike Siciliano got the win in the opener, striking out eight while allowing just two runs on five hits in a complete-game performance.

Immaculata return to the diamond on Wednesday when it travels to Penn State Harrisburg for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
