IMMACULATA, Pa.- Paul Murphy, Immaculata University Director of Athletics and Recreation, announced the hiring of
Mary Kirchner as the Head Coach of Immaculata men's volleyball.
Kirchner, who is entering her second season as Immaculata's women's volleyball head coach, led the women's program to their first Atlantic East Conference semifinal appearance in 2025.
Kirchner joined the Immaculata men's volleyball team as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator during the 2026 season, helping lead the Mighty Macs to a 5-3 conference record in their inaugural season in the United East Conference, earning the program's first playoff appearance.
"Mary has proven herself to be an outstanding coach, recruiter, and leader, and we could not be happier to expand her role as head coach of both our men's and women's volleyball programs," said
Paul Murphy. "In a short period of time, she has made a significant impact on both teams. Mary has been instrumental in recruiting talented student-athletes and building a solid foundation for the future of our volleyball programs. As an Immaculata alumna, she understands the values, traditions, and student-athlete experience that make this institution special. Her commitment to excellence and the development of our student-athletes makes her the ideal person to lead Mighty Mac Volleyball moving forward."
"I am thrilled and humbled to take on this role and to lead both the women's and men's programs at Immaculata," said
Mary Kirchner. "I look forward to working with this group of young men again. We had one of the program's most successful seasons this past spring, and I plan to build on that progress and make Immaculata into a championship program by developing a championship culture. Working with both the women's and the men's teams will strengthen Immaculata's presence in the volleyball landscape. I am grateful to
Paul Murphy and Immaculata administration for the opportunity to represent my Alma Mater. "
