Paul Murphy

Paul Murphy began his sixth year as Immaculata University's Director of Athletics and Recreation in 2025-26. He was hired on July 22, 2020.

Murphy joined Immaculata with over two decades of experience as a coach and administrator at the Division III level, beginning with his time as a coach before eventually ascending to the role of Sports Information Director, and most recently, the post of Associate Director of Athletics at Gwynedd Mercy University.

In July 2001, Murphy became the Director of Sports Information for the Griffins, a role that he would hold until July 2003. In his two-year stint, Murphy was instrumental in the design and implementation of Gwynedd Mercy's first website devoted exclusively to the coverage of athletics.

Murphy assumed the role of Associate Director of Athletics at Gwynedd Mercy in July 2003, where he played a crucial role in managing the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Department, including the scheduling of games, transportation, and facilities. Murphy was tasked with overseeing work-study students, graduate assistants, and game day administration. In this role, Murphy played a vital role in the addition of several new sports at Gwynedd Mercy, including men's lacrosse, track and field, and baseball. He played a critical role in the design process of the $9 million Gwynedd Mercy Outdoor Athletic Complex, which boasts a 400-meter track, grandstands, locker room facilities, a snack bar, restrooms, and additional storage areas, which reached completion in the fall of 2009. Additionally, Murphy helped Gwynedd Mercy create and maintain student-athlete and coaches handbooks while also serving as the 2009 Chair of the College Annual Fund.

In addition to his experiences as an administrator at Gwynedd Mercy, Murphy was the first baseball coach at Gwynedd Mercy, a position he held from the program's inaugural season in 1999 to his departure in 2020. In his tenure at the helm of the Gwynedd Mercy baseball program, Murphy piloted the Griffins to five conference championships and five NCAA Tournament appearances, including a pair of conference titles and NCAA Tournament appearances in their second and third seasons of competition.

A key face in Division III baseball, Murphy has frequently served the sport on NCAA and ECAC Baseball Regional and National Committees, including a three-year stint as Chair of the NCAA National Baseball Committee from 2017-19. He has a wealth of experience at the conference level, having served as a Sport Chair for women's basketball and women's soccer during the Griffins' stints in both the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) and the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC).

Murphy, a graduate of nearby Saint Joseph's University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, was a three-year standout for the Hawks' baseball program that competed in the rigorous Atlantic-10 Conference.
