Women's Basketball 2025-26 Season Recap

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata women's basketball had another strong year in the third season under head coach Brittany Whalen. The 2025-26 campaign was capped off with back-to-back Atlantic East Conference championships.

The Mighty Macs went 24-4 (14-0 AEC). With only two players departing due to graduation, the team will be in contention to defend their conference crown again next year.

COACH'S CORNER

"It's been another incredible season for our women's basketball program," Whalen said. "The work that our student-athletes and coaches have put in throughout the long season has laid out the groundwork for success, and it's something we hope to continue in years to come, as we look to keep building. I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to work with a phenomenal group of people every day. They, along with their supportive families, are what makes our program so special."

THE SCHEDULE

Immaculata made a statement in the season opener with a 25-point win over Moravian. Freshman Abby Grillo dropped a career-high 26 points in her collegiate debut. The Mighty Macs entered the holiday break with a perfect 5-0 December run, with large margin of victories over Alvernia, Widener (who was receiving votes in the d3hoops.com Top 25 poll at the time), and Delaware Valley.

Despite dropping a decision at Haverford to open 2026, the Mighty Macs went through the conference rotation twice with no blemishes. On Jan. 21, Whalen recorded her 50th win as Immaculata's head coach, accomplishing the feat in just two-and-a-half seasons. By beating Pratt in the regular season finale, Immaculata had won 14 straight conference games.

The Mighty Macs entered the conference postseason as the top seed. With dominant home wins over Centenary (N.J.) and Marywood, Immaculata was named the Atlantic East Conference champion for the second straight year. Over the last two seasons, including playoffs, Immaculata has won 28 straight conference contests.

Since AEC champions have an automatic qualifier (AQ) to the NCAA Tournament, Immaculata drew SUNY New Paltz in the First Round. However, the #21-ranked Hawks ended the Mighty Macs' magical run on the neutral-site campus of John Carroll University.

Immaculata's core of Carly Coleman, Grillo, and Meg Robbins, along with a solid bench, gives the program a bright future.
