THE STORYLINE 

  • The Immaculata women's basketball team (22-3, 10-0 AEC) will be making their second appearance in the NCAA tournament. This will be Mighty Macs' second tournament appearance in four years. 

  • Immaculata enters Friday's game after capturing the Atlantic East Conference Championship on Saturday defeating Neumann 63-46 at Alumnae Hall. 

  • No. 18 Ohio Wesleyan (23-3, 14-0 NCAC) enters the NCAA Tournament as an at-large berth after falling the Semifinals of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament to Wittenberg 56-54. 

THE SERIES HISTORY 

  • Immaculata and Ohio Wesleyan are meeting in women's basketball for the first time. 

IMMACULATA NCAA HISTORY 

  • The Immaculata women's basketball team will be making the program's second appearance in the NCAA tournament.  

  • Immaculata last appeared in the in the NCAA tournament in 2022 when the Mighty Macs traveled to play Angola, Indiana to play Trine University. Immaculata fell to Trine 62-37. 

  • Immaculata which joined the NCAA in 1982 is best known for their time in the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) when they won the first three women's basketball national championships in 1972, 1973, and 1974 when they were coached by Naismith Hall of Fame Coach Cathy Rush. The Mighty Macs were national runners-up in 1975 and 1976 and lost in the National Semifinals in 1977. 

OHIO WESLEYAN NCAA HISTORY 

  • Ohio Wesleyan will be making their third consecutive appearance, and their ninth overall appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament. 

  • Last year, Ohio Wesleyan lost to Transylvania in the second round 70-55. 

  • Ohio Wesleyan finished third in the NCAA Tournament in 2000-01. 

  • The Battling Bishops are hosting in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1994-95. 

MIGHTY MAC NOTES 

  • Reese Mullins was named the 2024-25 Atlantic East Conference Player of the Year and named to the All-Atlantic East Conference First Team on Tuesday. Is Immaculata's leading scorer this season averaging 15.4 PPG. Finished third in scoring in the Atlantic East Conference. She registered six double-doubles this season. Scored a season-high 25 points vs Marymount on January 4, 2025.  

  • Abigail Boyer was named to the All-Atlantic East Conference First Team on Tuesday. Boyer Is averaging 9.9 PPG, shooting 38.4% (84-219) from the field, and 33.6% (42-125) from behind the arc. She has 80 rebounds and nine steals. She scored a team-high 22 points in Immaculata's win over McDaniel College on November 16, shooting 6-6 from three-point territory. She tied her career-high with 24 points in a win at Marymount 2/1/2025. Was named AEC Player of the Week two times this season. Won the AEC's Elite 20 Award for having the highest cumulative GPA at the finals site. 

  • Tessa Liberatoscioli was named Atlantic East Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-Atlantic East Conference Second Team. This was her second straight AEC Defensive Player of the Year Award. Liberatoscioli is averaging 10. PPG, shooting 36.2% (96-265) from the field, 26.3% (21-90) from behind the arc, and 62.7% from the free throw line. She has 124 rebounds, 24 blocked shots, and leads the Atlantic East Conference with 89 steals. Tied her own program record for steals in a game with eight against Misericordia on 1/3/2025. 

  • Carly Coleman was named Atlantic East Conference Rookie of the Year and to the All-Atlantic East Conference First Team. Coleman Has averaged 9 PPG, shooting 58.3% (21-36) from the field. Coleman has a team high 54 rebounds averaging 9 RPG and has nine steals. Coleman registered nine double-doubles, including the AEC Semifinal and Championship game. She was named AEC Offensive Player and Defensive Player of the Week and was named to the AEC Weekly Honor Roll five times.  

  • Olivia Ettorre averaging 7.6 PPG. Ettorre is shooting 39.2% (74-189) from the field, with 66 rebounds, 33 assists, 23 blocked shots, and 15 steals. Scored 11 points shooting 3-7 from behind the arc, with two blocked shots in the AEC Semifinals vs Marywood. Led all-scorers with 14 points shooting 5-9 from the field, 3-4 from behind the arc, with four rebounds, four blocked shots, and two steals in Immaculata's Championship Game win over Neumann to earn AEC Tournament MVP Honors.  

  • Riley Cassidy Is averaging 7.8 PPG, shooting 41% (66-161) from the field, and 34.8% (24-69) from behind the arc, and 71.4% from the free throw line. She has 59 rebounds, 21 assists, two blocked shots, and 12 steals. She scored 10 points in Immaculata's season opener vs Alvernia and scored 13 points in Immaculata's game at Moravian on November 11. Scored a career best 21 points vs Marywood on February 18. Scored eight points, with five rebounds, and a blocked shot in the Championship Game win over Neumann.  

  • Alyssa Long is averaging 2.5 PPG, with 68 assists, 75 rebounds, nine blocked shots, and 38 steals. Brings energy and a veteran presence to the Mighty Macs playing tenacious defense. Scored a season high eight points in the semifinal win over Marywood and scored seven points in the Championship Game vs Neumann.  The former UNC Division I lacrosse All-American brought big game experience to the Mighty Macs in 2024-25. 

SCOUTING OHIO WESLEYAN 

  • Fifth year guard Kasey Schipfer lead Ohio Wesleyan averaging 19.5 points per game. 

  • Sophomore post Macy Miller is averaging 16.2 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game and was named to the All-NCAC Tournament Team. 

  • Fifth year point guard Elizabeth Homan is averaging 8.7 assists per game.  

  • Ohio Wesleyan is averaging 72.5 points per game, while their opponents are averaging 49.7. 

  • The Battling Bishops are shooting 45.1% from the field, 32.2% from behind the arc, and they are averaging 72.9 from the stripe. 

OTHER FIRST ROUND MATCH UP 

  • Messiah is playing Washington & Jefferson in the other First Round Match up on Friday at 4 p.m. 

  • Messiah (25-2, 14-0 MAC CW) won the MAC Commonwealth Championship defeating Widener 74-46 in the Championship Game. 

  • Washington & Jefferson (23-4, 18-2 PAC) and won the PAC Championship defeating Chatham 59-50 in the Championship Game.
