Immaculata Baseball Hosts Neumann on Friday in AEC Opener

THE STORYLINE 

  • The Immaculata baseball team (4-14, 0-0 AEC) opens Atlantic East Conference play with a three-game series this weekend with Neumann. Immaculata begins with hosting Neumann in a single game at the IU Baseball Stadium on Friday at 3 p.m. Immaculata will travel to Neumann on Saturday for a doubleheader at Bruder Field at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. 

  • Immaculata enters the weekend after falling to Stockton on Tuesday at home, 16-8. 

  • Neumann (9-5, 0-0 AEC) enters the weekend after falling at Washington College on Tuesday, 15-12. 

SERIES HISTORY 

  • Immaculata and Neumann are meeting for the 48th time on Friday in their series that began in 2010. 

  • Immaculata is 27-20 all-time vs Neumann.  

LAST MEETING 

  • Immaculata defeated Neumann 13-2 in their last meeting on April 27, 2024, at the IU Baseball Stadium. 

  • Sal Serici was 3-5 with four RBIS, and Alex LePage picked up the fifth win of his freshman campaign going six innings allowing three hits and striking out six.  

MIGHTY MAC NOTES 

  • Steven Theisen leads Immaculata batting .400 (26-65) with 12 runs scored, five doubles, one home run and 13 RBIs. Theisen was named to the AEC Weekly Honor Roll for a second consecutive week. 

  • Ryan Nace is batting .357 (10-28) with nine runs scored, one home run, and 10 RBIs. Nace hit his first collegiate home run on Tuesday vs Stockton. 

  • Blake Schantz is batting .342 (13-38) with seven runs scored and three RBIs. 

  • Will Kelley is batting .342 (13-38) with eight runs scored, and eight RBIs. 

  • Matt Passerini is batting .314 (16-51) with 16 runs scored, and four RBIs. 

  • Alex LePage is 2-3 with a 4.55 ERA in five starts this season. LePage has 35 strikeouts and was named AEC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season after his one hitter at Ursinus last Saturday. 

  • Jordan Silvestri is 1-1 with a 5.56 ERA in five appearances and two starts. In 22.2 innings Silvestri has 21 strikeouts 

  • Stephen Devanney is 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA in two starts. Devanney has pitched 13.1 innings and has 10 strikeouts. 

  • Derek Andrada has one save in five appearances with a 3.86 ERA. Andrada has pitched seven innings and has five strikeouts. 

SCOUTING NEUMANN 

  • Senior infielder Brandon Colon is batting .389 (14-36) with eight runs scored, and eight RBIs. 

  • Junior infielder Tyler Kilmer is batting .316 (12-38) with 10 runs scored, and 11 RBIs. 

  • Sophomore infielder Anthony Rakotz is batting .281 (16-57) with 12 runs scored, one home run, and 15 RBIs. 

  • Graduate pitcher Jack Valentine is 1-0 in three starts with a 2.57 ERA. In 14 innings, he has allowed seven hits, four earned runs, and 11 strikeouts. 

  • Senior pitcher Nick Colon is 2-0 in three starts with a 3.50 ERA. In 18 innings he has allowed 19 hits, seven earned runs, and nine strikeouts. 

  • First-year pitcher Ray Carrier has two saves in three appearances. 

ATLANTIC EAST CONFERENCE 

  • As three-time defending AEC Champions the Mighty Macs will be the target for each of the other five teams in the Conference.  

  • Immaculata was voted second in the 2024 Atlantic East Conference Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll. 

  • Marymount is the favorite to win the AEC Championship with 24 points and four first place votes. Immaculata is second with 22 points and two first place votes. Gwynedd Mercy is third with 14 points. Centenary is fourth with 13 points. Marywood is fifth with 10 points, and Neumann rounds out the poll with seven points.

  • The Immaculata baseball team will be back in action on Tuesday, April 1, when the host Wilson College in a non-conference game at 3:30 p.m. at the IU Baseball Stadium.
