Baseball Travels to Shenandoah University on Friday for the Mr. V Classic

THE STORYLINE
  • The Immaculata baseball team (0-3) will travel to Winchester, Virginia to participate in the Mr. V Memorial Classic hosted by Shenandoah University. Immaculata will play the host Shenandoah on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. They will play Wittenberg at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, and follow that game playing Cortland at 12:15 p.m.
  • Immaculata is familiar with Kevin Anderson Field at Bridgeforth Stadium having won the Atlantic East Conference Championship on that field in May of 2024.
  • Immaculata enters the weekend after falling to Kean University 10-5 on Wednesday afternoon.
 
THE SERIES
  • Immaculata and Shenandoah are meeting for the fifth time in a series that began in 2010. Immaculata is 1-3 all-time vs Shenandoah. Their last meeting came on May 20, 2023, in Winchester when Shenandoah beat Immaculata 11-7 in NCAA Regionals. Josh Crowding went 3-5 with a double and two RBIs for Immaculata.
  • Immaculata and Wittenberg are meeting for the second time. Wittenberg defeated Immaculata 6-5 on March 3, 2024, in Fayetteville, NC. Joey Wright went 3-5 with a home run and three RBIs for the Mighty Macs.
  • Immaculata and Cortland are meeting for the first time in baseball.
 
MIGHTY MAC NOTES
  • Robert Woodward went 1-3 with two RBIs on Wednesday at Kean. For the season Woodward is hitting .455 with a home run and five RBIs.
  • Steven Theisen had two RBIs on Wednesday at Kean. Theisen has four RBIs this season.
  • Nick Turnage is hitting .385 with an RBI, and Matt Passerini is hitting .375 with one RBI.
  • Immaculata starter Alex LePage will look to bounce back from the loss in the season opener against Rutgers-Camden.
 
SCOUTING SHENANDOAH
  • The Hornets are off to a 6-2 start to their season including a doubleheader sweep of defending National Champion Misericordia.
  • Noah Cromwell is hitting .308 with a home run and six RBIs.
  • Brody Pickette is hitting .375 with six RBIs.
  • Parker Farrington is 1-0 in two starts with no runs allowed and has seven strikeouts.
 
SCOUTING WITTENBERG
  • The Tigers are 2-1 on the season. They defeated #13 Baldwin Wallace 6-1 in their opener, and split a doubleheader with Bethany (WV).
  • Tommy Chilicki is hitting .455 with three RBIs to lead Wittenberg.
  • Luke Thomas is batting .300 with one RBI.
  • Nate Floyd earned the win in their opener against Baldwin Wallace, pitching five innings, allowing three hits, no runs, and had eight strikeouts.
 
SCOUTING CORTLAND
  • Cortland is off to a 2-2 start to their season. They have wins over Marietta and #14/11 Christopher Newport, and losses to #7/9 Lynchburg and #4/5 Denison.
  • Dylan Tierney is hitting .375 with one home run, and seven RBIs.
  • Luke Schartner is batting .308 with four RBIs.
  • Nick Jenssen earned the win over Christopher Newport pitching six innings, allowing three hits, one earned run, and had two strikeouts.
 
UP NEXT
  • Immaculata baseball will be back in action on Wednesday, March 5th when they visit Swarthmore for a 3 p.m. game.
