Baseball Travels to Play at Kean University on Wednesday

THE STORYLINE 

  • The Immaculata baseball team (0-2) returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Union, N.J. to play Kean University. 

  • Immaculata enters Wednesday game having lost both games of their season opening doubleheader at Rutgers-Camden on Saturday. 

  • Kean enters Wednesday's game after defeating Widener 9-1 on Tuesday afternoon. They swept Mitchell College over the weekend, winning both games.  

SERIES HISTORY 

  • Immaculata and Kean are meeting for the third time in their series that began in 2023. 

  •  Immaculata has won both previous meetings. 

LAST MEETING 

  • Immaculata defeated Kean 9-5 in their last meeting on February 29, 2024, at Kean. 

MIGHTY MAC NOTES 

  • Robert Woodward went a combined 4-8, with three runs scored, a double, a triple, and a home run with three RBIs in Immaculata's season opening doubleheader at Rutgers Camden on Saturday. Woodward went 2-4, with two runs scored, a home run, and two RBIs in game one. In game two Woodward went 2-4, with one run scored, a double and a triple, with one RBI.  

  • Steven Theisen went a combined 3-9 with two runs scored, a double, and had two RBIs. He went 2-4, with one run scored, a double, and an RBI in the first game of the doubleheader 

  • Nick Turnage went 3-5 for Immaculata in the second game of the doubleheader. 

  • Derek Andrada pitched a scoreless inning in relief for Immaculata in game one of the doubleheader on Saturday. 

SCOUTING KEAN 

  • Kean is off to a 5-0 start to their season with wins over Arcadia, Drew, swept a doubleheader from Mitchell, and defeated Widener. 

  • Senior outfielder Kyel Adorno is hitting .550 with one home run, and four RBIs. 

  • Senior CJ Tomalavage is hitting .333 with one home run, and six RBIs. 

  • Senior pitcher Jason Gilman is 2-0 with a 1.59 ERA and has 18 strikeouts.  

  • Sophomore pitcher Jason Basilicata has pitched 6.2 scoreless innings in relief and is 1-0 with one save. 

WEEKLY HONORS 

  • Robert Woodward was named to the Atlantic East Conference Baseball Weekly Honor Roll by the conference office on Monday afternoon for his performance in the doubleheader at Rutgers-Camden on Saturday. 

UP NEXT 

  • The baseball team will be heading to Winchester, Virginia this weekend to participate in the Mr. V Memorial Tournament hosted by Shenandoah University at Kevin Anderson Field at Bridgeforth Stadium.  

  • Immaculata will play Shenandoah on Friday, February 28 at 3 p.m. On Saturday, March 1 they will play Cortland at 10 a.m. and they will play Wittenberg University at 1:15 p.m.
