2024 Immaculata Field Hockey Season Recap

SEASON OVERVIEW

The Immaculata field hockey team earned 10 victories during the 2024 season, reaching double figures in wins for the first time since the 1980's. The Mighty Mas secured the team's first winning season since 1989 and reached the Atlantic East Conference Championship Game for the first time. This the program's first Championship Game appearance since playing in the EAIAW Championship game in 1982. This was the third straight season under Head Coach Kate Stopford that the Mighty Macs have won a game in the Atlantic East Conference Tournament. 

The 2024 season saw the Mighty Macs win three consecutive games, three times during the season, and earn the second seed in the Atlantic East Conference Tournament. Fifteen Immaculata players saw playing time in 13 or more games, and 10 played in all 19 games for the Mighty Macs, with six starting all 19 games.

Immaculata led the Atlantic East Conference in fewest goals allowed, with only 26 goals against in 19 total games, and led the AEC in shutouts with eight.

Immaculata defeated Gwynedd Mercy 1-0 in the Atlantic East Conference Semifinals on November 2nd at Draper Walsh Stadium. They fell to Marywood 2-0 in the Atlantic East Conference Championship Game at Marywood on November 9th.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Julia Levase had an incredible senior season, becoming the first Immaculata goalkeeper to win the Atlantic East Conference Defensive Player of the Year Award, and notched her second Career All-Atlantic East Conference First Team selection. Levase had a 1.38 goals-against average in 19 games, with 10 wins, a conference best 103 saves, and an IU program record seven shutouts. Levase finishes her IU career as the program record holder with 26 career wins, and 17 career shutouts.
  • Della George was a key contributor to the Mighty Macs success on the field, excelling at both ends of the field as one of the best midfielders in the conference. She had career highs in goals with three, assists with eight, and points with 14. On the defensive side George was the flyer on penalty corner for Immaculata. In Immaculata's semifinal win over Gwynedd Mercy, George stole the ball, carried it forward and made perfect pass ahead to send Alexis Andrada on a breakaway for the eventual game winner that sent Immaculata to the AEC Championship Game for the first time. Her eight assists tied the IU program single season record for assists.
  • Alexis Andrada led the Immaculata offense finishing fifth in the conference in scoring with 21 points, and fifth in the conference in goals with 10. Andrada broke the IU program records for goals and points by a freshman. Andrada scored the game winning goal in her collegiate debut and scored the Mighty Macs lone goal in the 1-0 semifinal win over Gwynedd Mercy to send the Macs to the Championship game.
  • Madalyn Bonner has been the anchor of the Immaculata defensive core throughout her career with the Mighty Macs. Bonner registered three defensive saves this season, including two in Immaculata's 2-1 win over Goucher. Bonner finishes her career with 11 defensive saves.
  • Kailey Mayoros had a breakout year in her sophomore year with five goals. Mayoros tied an Immaculata program record scoring in four consecutive games for the Mighty Macs. She had two game winning goals this season vs Delaware Valley and Manhattanville.
  • Kaitlin Gale was another of the anchors on Immaculata's defensive core that registered eight shutouts in 2024. Gale had one assist this season and had one defensive save vs Alvernia. Gale finishes her career with three defensive saves.
  • Abby Fekete played and started all 19 games for Immaculata. She was a strong presence in the midfield for Immaculata helping on both the offensive and defensive sides of the field. Fekete was an inserter on the penalty corners for the Mighty Macs. She scored the game winning goal in Immaculata's 3-0 win over Gwynedd Mercy on October 23rd.
  • Emilyn Bivens had a strong sophomore season appearing in all 19 games for Immaculata scoring two goals and adding one assist. Bivens scored the game winning goal in the Mighty Macs 2-1 win at Goucher.
  • Maria Berenato emerged in her sophomore season playing in all 19 games for Immaculata scoring one goal and adding one assist. Berenato's goal, her first collegiate goal was the overtime game winning goal in Immaculata's 1-0 overtime win at Neumann.
  • Rory Watson played in all 19 games in her senior season for Immaculata. Watson scored her first collegiate goal in the Mighty Macs win over Cedar Crest.
  • Kayla Ledbetter had a strong first season as a Mighty Mac playing and starting in 18 games and scored her first Mighty Mac goal in the win at King's.
  • Stephanie Webb played and started all 19 games for Immaculata and registered one defensive save.
  • Gabrielle O'Brien brought leadership to the team, both on and off the field despite having her playing time limited by injury. O'Brien's lone goal came in the team's 2-1 win at Goucher.
  • Jillian Vandenbraak played in 18 games, starting 16 and was a strong presence in the midfield for Immaculata.
  • Congratulations to Head Coach Kate Stopford and Assistant Coaches Meredith Katona and Layne Kennedy for leading Immaculata through their historic season.
