Women's Soccer Begins Busy Week this Afternoon at Eastern

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's soccer team (2-2-0) is back in action on Tuesday, when they travel to play at Eastern University. This will be the first game of a three-game week for the Mighty Macs.

SERIES HISTORY
  • These two schools will be meeting for the 11th time in their series that began back in 2001.
  • Eastern has won all ten of the previous meetings with Immaculata. 
LAST MEETING
  • The Eagles defeated Immaculata 4-0 in their last meeting on September 21, 2022, at Draper Walsh Stadium.
  • The last time the schools met at Olson Field, Immaculata fell to Eastern 2-1 on September 25, 2021. 
IMMACULATA NOTES
  • Immaculata will be looking to bounce back after a tough 2-0 loss to Wilson College on September 7th.
  • Rachel McNamee was named to the Atlantic East Conference women's soccer weekly honor roll for the second consecutive week. McNamee helped lead Immaculata to a late come from behind win over King's College on September 3rd scoring the tying goal on a 30-yard free kick. She generated five shots on goal combined over Immaculata's two games. McNamee has scored goals in three out Immaculata's four games.
  • Goalkeeper Emily Guthier was named to the Atlantic East Conference women's soccer weekly honor roll for the second straight week as well. Guthier made seven saves in the Mighty Macs 2-1 come from behind win over King's on September 3rd. She made five saves in the team's game with Wilson on September 7th.
  • Immaculata has gotten strong performances from Kelsey Caldarelli, Gabby Palladino, Carly Coleman, Marissa Birmingham.
  • The Mighty Macs will be looking for Janelle Kern and Samantha Seidito to help anchor the defensive core.
SCOUTING EASTERN
  • The Eagles have gotten off to a 2-0-2 to the 2024 season with victories over Rutgers-Newark and Delaware Valley, and draws with New Jersey City, and Ursinus.
  • Eastern defeated Delaware Valley 3-2 on September 7th. The Eagles scored the game's first three goals, before allowing Del Val to score a pair of goals in the second half. The Eagles managed to hold off the Aggies for the final 11 minutes to secure the win.
  • Eastern was led offensively by forward Belinda Leisner (2 goals), forward Mia Zucker (2 goals), midfielder Emma Bennett (1 goal, 2 assists), and defender Nicole Eveland (3 assists).
  • Goalkeeper Faith Leake is 2-0-2 on the season having made 19 saves on 47 shots faced.
  • Leah Fowler, Ashlyn Keys, and Ella Marrollo scored goals for the Eagles. 
UP NEXT
  • The Immaculata women's soccer team will be back home on Thursday, September 12th when they host New Jersey City University at Draper Walsh Stadium at 4:00 pm. 
  • Immaculata will host Lancaster Bible on Saturday, September 14th at Draper Walsh Stadium at 11:00 am.
