Women's Soccer Stifled by Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Immaculata women's soccer kept the second half a scoreless draw in their Tuesday afternoon match with the Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen, but the home team picked up a 3-1 win.

The Mighty Macs are 0-2 for the season. Their first AEC match will be on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Centenary (N.J.).

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST LEBANON VALLEY
  • Lebanon Valley was aggressive early on and scored in the sixth minute. Although Addi Husenica prevented a low shot from going in, the Flying Dutchmen converted a few minutes later. It was one of two home team goals within a one-minute span. In the 32nd minute, Natalene Clemson's shot was saved and sent back to Clemson before Liz Anderson sent a rocket past the goalie on a Clemson assist. The defenses kept both sides in check for the remainder of the half, with the Flying Dutchmen leading 3-1 after 45 minutes.
  • Devan Cosgrove checked in at goalie to open the half. Despite Lebanon Valley's continued offensive attack, the Mighty Macs' defense held their place. Moments after a Flying Dutchmen foul, Flora Hernandez fired a shot in the bottom of the net. But, it was saved. The second half was a defensive battle on both sides, as it was relatively quiet offensively for the final 45 minutes. Lebanon Valley won 3-1.
