BALTIMORE, Md. – Immaculata University women's soccer (1-2) picked up its first win of the 2026 season on Saturday afternoon, rolling past Notre Dame of Maryland University (1-3) by a 4-1 final at The Turf Field Sponsored by the SSNDs.
The Mighty Macs jumped out to a three-goal lead in the opening 17 minutes and never looked back, controlling play throughout the contest while holding a 26-11 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST NOTRE DAME OF MARYLAND
- Immaculata wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Addison Yackel opened the scoring in the 11th minute. Yackel headed in a corner kick feed from Emma Sobieski at the 10:28 mark to give the Mighty Macs a 1-0 advantage.
- Just under three minutes later, Immaculata doubled its lead when Marissa Sozzi found the back of the net off an assist from Lily McGee in the 14th minute for her first collegiate.
- The Mighty Macs continued to apply pressure and were rewarded with a penalty kick in the 17th minute. Heather Russell stepped to the spot and converted for her first goal as a Mighty Mac at 16:41 to push the Immaculata advantage to 3-0.
- Notre Dame answered before halftime when Alex Busick scored in the 41st minute, trimming the deficit to 3-1 heading into the break.
- Immaculata quickly restored its three-goal advantage early in the second half. Gracie Repici scored her first goal of the season at 55:51, burying the rebound from Sam Terry's free kick to make it a 4-1 contest.
- The Mighty Macs continued to generate opportunities throughout the remainder of the afternoon, finishing with nine shots in the second half and forcing Notre Dame goalkeeper Leah Hasberry to make nine saves overall.
- Immaculata goalkeeper Devan Cosgrove played the opening 45 minutes, while Addi Husenica took over in the second half and recorded two saves to help preserve the 4-1 victory.
