Women's Basketball Welcomes Alvernia to Alumnae Hall for Season Opener

THE STORYLINE
  • The Immaculata women's basketball team will open the 2024-25 season         when they host Alvernia tonight at Alumnae Hall.
THE SERIES HISTORY
  • These two schools will be meeting for the 10th time in their series that began in 2006.
  • Immaculata is 1-8 all-time vs Alvernia.
LAST MEETING
  • Immaculata defeated Alvernia 73-69 in their last meeting on December 12, 2023, at Alvernia.
  • Reese Mullins led the Mighty Macs with 20 points. Olivia Ettorre contributed 10 points and four rebounds.
A LOOK BACK AT 2023-24
  • The Mighty Macs recovered from a 1-4 start to finish their season 15-11 overall, and 7-3 in Atlantic East Conference play under first year head coach Brittany Whalen.
  • Immaculata earned the second seed in the Atlantic East Conference Tournament falling to Neumann in the semifinals.
 
Mighty Mac Notes
  • Senior Tessa Liberatoscioli returns after being named the 2023-24 Atlantic East Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Liberatoscioli was named AEC Defensive Player of the Week nine times during the season.
  • Senior Reese Mullins is back after being named to the All-Atlantic East Conference Second Team for the second consecutive season.
  • Senior Abigail Boyer returns to the Immaculata back court and will be one of the team leaders this season.
  • Junior Olivia Ettorre saw significant playing time in her sophomore year, will be counted on to play a bigger role this season.
  • Immaculata will receive support from returning players senior Victoria Foster, junior Francesca Scarpone, and sophomores Julia Pohl, Meg Robbins, and Emma Wagner.
  • Immaculata welcomes a core of new additions including graduate transfer Alyssa Long who comes to Immaculata after playing four years of lacrosse at UNC, and junior transfer Riley Cassidy from Muhlenberg who will bring experience to team.
  • Immaculata has a group of four talented freshman who will look to compete for playing time including Carly Coleman, Katie McGuigan, Cassidy Perri, and Kaylia Rice.
 
SCOUTING ALVERNIA
  • Alvernia finished the 2023-24 season 15-11 overall and was 7-7 in MAC Commonwealth play.
  • The Golden Wolves fell to Messiah in the MAC Commonwealth Semifinals.
  • Senior forward Kylie Bradford scored 102 points, with 63 rebounds, and 20 steals.
  • Junior Meghan Ruth scored 105 points, with 88 rebounds and 12 steals.
 
UP NEXT
  • The Immaculata women's basketball team will be back in action on Monday, November 11th when they will visit Moravian for a 6pm game.
  • Immaculata will be back at Alumnae Hall on Wednesday, November 13th when they host Haverford at 7pm.
