RADNOR, Pa. - The No. 4 Immaculata women's lacrosse team (10-8) returned to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Semifinals for the fifth consecutive season and travelled to No. 1 Cabrini (15-3) hoping to make their first trip to the CSAC title game, but the Macs came up short in a 21-8 defeat at the hands of the Cavaliers to end their 2017 season.

The Mighty Macs got a great effort in her final game of the season from freshman
Layne Kennedy with five more goals which gave her 57 goals to set the high for a freshman at IU and is the third most in a season in team history. Junior
Brittany Whaley had the other three goals to give her a career-high 43 on the year. Whaley also led the team with four caused turnovers and tied sophomore
Bailey Krewson with four groundballs.

The Cavaliers raced out to a 7-0 lead in the opening 13 minutes and did not allow the Mighty Macs to get into the game. Kennedy scored on the 21
st assist of the season from junior
Rosemarie Reitman with 17 minutes left in the first to make it 7-1.

Cabrini then ripped off eight more in a row to build an insurmountable 15-1 lead with 8:58 left in the half. Whaley would score her first before another goal from Kennedy around a Cavalier goal to make it 16-3 at the break.

The Cavaliers grew their lead to its largest of the game at 21-3 by scoring the first five goals of the second half over the opening 20 minutes. The Mighty Macs did not go quietly as Whaley scored before three straight from Kennedy, and Whaley finished the scoring with 1:40 left to get to the final of 21-8.

The Mighty Macs finished with double digit victories for the third time in the last five seasons.
