IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata women's lacrosse's four fourth-quarter goals were not enough on Wednesday, as the Neumann University Knights won 18-4.
The Mighty Macs are 6-11 for the season. They are 2-3 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST NEUMANN
- Despite a few defensive plays early from the Mighty Macs, the Knights scored first three-and-a-half minutes in. Abigail Guarneri made six saves in the quarter, which was the most out of any quarter in the game for her. Neumann would put seven more shots in the net with the score at 8-0 after 15 minutes.
- The Knights' offense continued their aggressiveness in the second frame with five more goals. Riley Mullen caused a defensive turnover in the waning moments. It was 13-0 at the half.
- Four additional Neumann scores were added in the third quarter. Immaculata forced a shot clock violation with about four minutes remaining, but the score stood at 17-0 through three.
- Both teams made a goalie change in the fourth. Elizabeth Mahmud got past the goalie to break Immaculata's drought. It was one of two goals from Mahmud, the second of which was on a man-up situation. Sandwiched between Mahmud's goals, Alexa Marczak cashed in from Keira Benoit on a man-up. Benoit would score her own near the two-minute mark. The Knights stopped the 4-0 run with their final goal of the day, and they won 18-4.
