Women's Lacrosse Bows Out of Postseason in Defeat to Neumann Knights

ASTON, Pa. – Immaculata women's lacrosse put up a strong fight against the Neumann University Knights on Saturday, but the Knights won the Atlantic East Conference Semifinals matchup 16-2.

The Mighty Macs finish with a 6-12 record. They were 2-3 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST NEUMANN
  • The Knights won the opening draw control and placed a shot in the net within 10 seconds. Neumann's offense got going early with 11 goals in the opening frame. Abigail Guarneri saw four saves in the quarter, but Neumann led 11-0 after one.
  • Keira Benoit broke the drought with a goal in the second quarter on a Julia Pohl dime. Both goalies stood tall throughout the quarter until the Knights earned a goal back following a successful clear. Neumann was up 12-1 at the half.
  • The Mighty Macs were outscored 4-0 in the third quarter. Brooke Kakowski forced a turnover, which segued into multiple Elizabeth Mahmud shots. But, they were saved. Bailee Neitz caused a defensive turnover as time expired. It was 16-1 after three.
  • Mahmud cashed in from Morgan Barnes for the final Immaculata goal of the day. Both offenses remained quiet for the remainder of the game, with the final score being Neumann 16-2.

  • Benoit and Mahmud tallied a goal apiece.
  • Barnes and Pohl logged one assist each.
  • Pohl, Mahmud, and Guarneri all grabbed two ground balls.
