IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's lacrosse team (6-5, 3-2 CSAC) was hoping to bounce back from their first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) loss of the season on Wednesday night when they hosted Marywood (8-4, 5-1 CSAC) on Saturday afternoon, but the Macs were unable to keep up with the Pacers in a 17-7 loss.
 
The Macs were led on offense by a strong day from junior Brittany Whaley with six points on four goals and two assists.  Freshman Layne Kennedy had two goals and one assist, and sophomore Bailey Krewson had the final tally for the Macs.  Junior Nicole Dominick added two assists.
 
Freshman goalie Emily Schumann had seven saves.
 
The game started out going back and forth early as the Pacers got on the board first but Whaley scored on the helper from Kennedy to tie the game 16 seconds later.  After Marywood briefly re-took the lead, the Macs responded 33 seconds later with a great goal from Dominick to Krewson to tie the game 2-2.
 
IU then went into a 23 minute scoring drought and the Pacers took advantage by scoring eight consecutive goals to take a commanding 10-2 lead with a minute to go before the half.  However, the Macs got a couple key goals before halftime to cut the deficit to 10-4.  Whaley scored on a free position with 30 seconds remaining, and followed that with her third goal of the half from Dominick with two seconds to go before halftime.
 
The Macs were unable to keep the momentum going after the break as Marywood scored seven of the first eight goals to take a commanding 17-5 lead.  Kennedy scored on an assist for the only IU goal during that stretch.  Whaley and Kennedy added one more goal each to reach the final.
 
The Macs will look to snap the losing skid on Tuesday when they host Notre Dame at 7 p.m.
