Macs Drop Regular Season Finale At Arcadia

Box Score

GLENSIDE, Pa.- The Immaculata women's lacrosse team (9-7) wrapped up their regular season with a road game at Arcadia (7-8) on Thursday evening, and the Mighty Macs were unable to keep up in a 20-7 loss.

Junior Hannah Verrecchia had four points with three goals and one assist, while junior Brittany Whaley and freshman Layne Kennedy had two goals apiece.

Freshman Emily Schumann had five saves in the cage.

IU was put into a hole just six minutes into the game as the Knights scored the first six goals of the contest before Verrecchia netted her 35th of the season to get the Macs on the board.

However, that did not slow the Arcadia momentum as they went on to score eight goals in a row and make it 14-1 with 10 minutes to go before halftime.

Kennedy scored her 50th of the year and Verrecchia scored again to make it 14-3, but the Knights grabbed one more under a minute to go before the break to take a 15-3 advantage to the locker room.

In the second half, Whaley scored twice, while Kennedy and Verrecchia each added one more tally against five goals for Arcadia to get to the final of 20-7.

The Macs will shift their focus to the Colonial States Athletic Conference playoffs on Saturday where they will enter as the No. 4 seed and host the No. 5 Notre Dame of Maryland University Gators in the CSAC Quarterfinals at 1 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
