IMMACULATA, Pa.- On a warm and clear evening the Immaculata men's lacrosse team (4-10, 3-4 CSAC) hosted the Neumann Knights (6-9, 3-4 CSAC) in a pivotal senior day with each team needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, and the Mighty Macs came up with the big victory as senior
Doug Hughes scored an overtime walk-off game-winner in a 14-13 victory. Despite the win, the Mighty Macs were eliminated from the CSAC playoffs as Centenary defeated Rosemont.

Prior to the game the Macs took time to honor their six seniors Sam Zingaro, Hughes,
Jake Kemble, Don Schiffer,
Tom Christian, and Matt Aikins.

Additionally in the victory, junior
Mike Reardon became the first player in program history to reach 100 goals, and junior
Tyler Black became the seventh Mighty Mac to reach 100 points.

In the first quarter, the Macs opened up the scoring early when Black scored off an assist from junior
Brian Shultis just two minutes into the contest to give the Macs the early 1-0 lead. The Macs would score again just over a minute later when Reardon took an assist from Shultis to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Macs. The Knights would answer back less than a minute later with a goal of their own to make the score 2-1 but the Macs would then go on a 3-0 run with goals from Black, Reardon, and Hughes to move the score to 5-1 at the end of the first.

In the second quarter the scoring would continue as the Knights would open the half on a 2-0 run to move the score to 5-3 but the Macs quickly answered back with 8:25 left in the half when Black scored off an assist from Zingaro to move the score to 6-3. The Knights would net their final goal of the half with 4:56 left when Chase Fraser scored an unassisted goal to 6-4. The Macs then went on a 3-0 run with goals from Hughes, Reardon, and Black. This allowed the Macs to close the half with a 9-4 lead. Reardon's first half hat trick was good enough to allow him to become the first player in team history to score 100 goals. Black also became the seventh Mac in team history to score 100 points with his four goals and one assist in the first half of play.

In the second half it was a different game as the Knights went on a 6-0 run in the third quarter to take a 10-9 lead over the Macs heading to the fourth. The Macs and Knights would trade goals throughout the fourth quarter with the Knights adding another three and the Macs adding on four goals of their own from Zingaro, Hughes, Reardon, and Black to make the score 13-13 at the end of regulation. The Macs would break through for the game winner with 2:03 left in the first overtime when Hughes dodged from behind the net to lift the Macs to the thrilling win.

Denton States stood tall between the pipes making seven saves on the evening. Black led the Macs with six ground balls and also took care of business in the faceoff circle winning 13-23 faceoffs to lead the way for the Macs.
