IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University's baseball team wrapped up its non-conference portion of the schedule on a cloudy and chilly Wednesday afternoon with a 12-8 win against Ursinus College at the IU Baseball Field.

Pat Devenney had a big day for the Mighty Macs going 3-for-5 with five RBIs and two runs scored, while
Jason McCormick was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Ryan Ficca also had three RBIs.

Collin Stringham picked up his first win this season going six innings in his first start. Stringham allowed three runs on seven hits, and he struck out four and walked just one.

The Mighty Macs stormed onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning scoring four runs all with two outs. Following the first out of the inning,
Ryan Tecco walked to get on base. Then with two outs, Immaculata was able to keep the inning going with three hits, a walk and a hit by pitch.

Brad Misialek singled to put runners on the corner for Devenney, who singled through the left side to score Tecco for the first run. McCormick was hit by a pitch to load the bases, and
Howie Kalamets walked in the second run. Ficca then singled through the right side allowing Devenney and McCormick to score.

Stringham was able to work out a little bit of a jam in the top of the third as Ursinus had runner at the corners, but a fly ball out ended the inning without a run scoring.

Devenney added to the Mighty Macs' lead (6-0) in the bottom of the third with a two-RBI, two-out doubled into left center that allowed Tecco and Misialek to score.

McCormick and Kalamets each singled to start the bottom of the fourth inning for the Mighty Macs, and McCormick scored the seventh IU run of the game as Ficca reached on an error.

Ursinus (21-9) got on the scoreboard in the fifth with three runs on five hits. The Bears got their leadoff hitter aboard, but the next two batters reached on fielder's choices as the Mighty Macs cut down the lead runner both times. Ursinus' next four hitters all singled as three runs crossed the plate to cut Immaculata's lead to 7-3.

Immaculata had its biggest inning of the game in the bottom of the sixth scoring five runs, and again all the runs scored with two outs. The Mighty Macs loaded the bases as
Justin Dempsey singled,
Matt Simon walked, and
Dom Ficca was hit by a pitch. Misialek then pushed the first run home as he walked to keep the bases full.

Devenney again delivered in the clutch with a doubled up the middle that scored both Simon and Ficca. McCormick then cleared the bases with his single through the left side for a 12-3 Immaculata lead.

Ursinus began to claw its way back into the game with four runs in the top of the seventh (12-7). Immaculata was able to escape the inning without any more Bears runs scoring as Ursinus left three on base.

Ursinus added one more run in the top of the eighth as Immaculata traded the second out of the inning for one run.

Ursinus had a one-out double in the top of the ninth, but left the runner standing at second.
Â
Kenny Anderson came on in relief of Stringham and allowed four runs on three hits while striking out one in his one-third of an inning.
Greg Grandelli then came in and closed out the game going two and two-third innings. Grandelli allowed just one run and three hits while striking out three and walking two.

The Mighty Macs (18-4) have now won six-straight games heading into their weekend series with Neumann beginning Friday, April 21, at 3 p.m. at home.
