IMMACULATA, Pa.- On a warm and clear nightat Draper Walsh Stadium, the Immaculata women's lacrosse team (7-5, 4-2 CSAC) hosted the Notre Dame of Maryland Gators (3-6, 3-3 CSAC) looking to snap a two game losing skid, and the Macs did just with an offensive explosion in a 21-13 victory.
IU had 10 different goal scorers, led by freshman
Layne Kennedy had a huge game with six goals, a career-high, and junior
Brittany Whaley scored three times with one assist. Junior
Olivia Carter, junior
Hannah Verrecchia, junior
Rosemarie Reitman, and sophomore
Bailey Krewson all scored twice. Junior
Nicole Dominick (three assists), sophomore
Jackie Wood, senior
Meredith Katona, and sophomore
Amanda Maher all scored once as well.
In the first half, the Gators opened the scoring just under two minutes into the game to give the Gators the 1-0 lead. This lead would not last long as Verrecchia scored on a free position just a minute later to move the score to 1-1. The Gators answered back with a goal of their own with 21:56 left in the half to move the score to 2-1 but this is the last lead the Gators would have as the Macs would then go on a 5-0 run to stretch the lead to 6-2. In this stretch, Kennedy scored three goals while Wood and Verrecchia each added one more to move the score to 6-2.
The Gators answered back with 14:32 left in the half to move the score to 6-3 in favor of the Macs. The Macs and Gators would then trade goals as Kennedy got on the board once again, while Whaley added another two goals, and Maher chipped in a goal of her own to give the Macs a 10-6 lead heading to the half.
In the second half the Macs opened on a 5-1 run thanks to two goals from Carter, Dominick, Kennedy, and Katona to push the score to 15-7. The Macs and Gators then traded goals the rest of the way as each team posted another six including another from Kennedy who ended her day with six goals, one from Krewson, two from Reitman, as well as another goal from Whaley to give the Macs the 21-13 victory.

Emily Schumann led the way for the Macs in the cage making 10 saves on the day. Verrecchia and Krewson led the Macs with four groundballs on the day.
The Macs next game is on Thursday afternoon at Neumann getting underway at 4 p.m. The Macs next and final home game is next Tuesday when they host Rosemont at 6 p.m. After that game they take to the road two more times on the 22
nd and 27
th against Keystone and Arcadia respectively before getting underway in the CSAC Quarterfinals on April 29
th.
