CENTER VALLEY, Pa.- The Immaculata women's lacrosse team (6-3) improved to 3-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) as they took care of Cedar Crest (0-5, 0-3 CSAC) by a score of 14-2. The Mighty Macs had 11 different players score goals.
Freshman
Layne Kennedy had five points with two goals and three assists, and junior
Hannah Verrecchia had three points with two goals and one assist. Junior
Brittany Whaley was the other multi-goal scorer with two, and junior
Nicole Dominick had one goal and two assists.
Senior
Bridget Polansky had a goal and led the team with three caused turnovers, and sophomore
Jackie Wood had a goal and a team-best four groundballs. Freshman goalie
Emily Schumann had three saves.
The Macs scored the first four goals of the game as Kennedy was involved in all four. Dominick had the first from Kennedy, then Kennedy scored two in a row before providing the helper on Verrecchia's first of the day to make it 4-0 just over five minutes into the game.
Cedar Crest then got on the board with 21:24 to go in the half before IU scored nine consecutive goals, eight of them to close out the first half.
Dominick provided back-to-back assists on goals by juniors
Rosemarie Reitman and
Olivia Carter before Whaley scored on a free position attempt to make it 7-1. Sophomore
Bailey Krewson got on the board from Verrecchia, followed by a tally from Wood and the lead had ballooned to 9-1 with 7:06 remaining before the half.
Senior
Meredith Katona and sophomore
Amanda Maher each scored, and Verrecchia finished off the first half scoring as the Macs led 12-1 at the break.
In the second half, Polansky and Whaley each scored around one Falcon goal to finish off the 14-2 win.
The Macs will take their undefeated conference mark on the road on Wednesday when they travel to Cabrini at 7 p.m.
