DOYLESTOWN, Pa.- The Immaculata women's lacrosse team (1-2) played a strong first half at Delaware Valley (3-0) on Saturday afternoon as they led 7-3 at the break, but the Aggies held the Macs to just seven shot attempts in the second half and erased the big IU lead as the Mighty Macs fell 11-10 in a close non-conference contest.

IU led 10-9 with less than 10 minutes to go, but the Aggies scored twice in the final minutes to deal IU the defeat in their first road game of the season.

Junior
Brittany Whaley had four goals and a team-best three caused turnovers, while freshman
Layne Kennedy continued the great start to her career with three goals and three groundballs. Junior
Hannah Verrecchia had two goals, two caused turnovers, and two groundballs, and junior
Nicole Dominick had three points with one goal and two assists. Junior
Rosemarie Reitman had two assists, and sophomore
Bailey Krewson had a team-high five groundballs.

The Macs started the scoring as Whaley took a pass from Dominick for a 1-0 lead four minutes in, but the Aggies tied it three minutes later. The Mighty Macs then took control of the game with five consecutive goals while holding Delaware Valley scoreless for over 18 minutes.

Kennedy and Whaley scored on free position attempts before Dominick and Kennedy again scored to extend the lead to 5-1. Reitman then set up Verrecchia for her first tally of the day to make it 6-1 with 6:16 to go in the half. Del Val scored twice in less than a minute to stop the IU run, but Verrecchia scored her second goal of the half to make it 7-3 at the break.

The teams traded goals in the opening three minutes as Whaley kept the Macs in front, 8-4, but then it was the Aggies turn for a run as they scored four straight to tie the game at 8-8 with 17:28 remaining in the game.

Whaley netted her fourth of the game with 14:42 to put the Macs in front, but it was a brief one goal lead as the Aggies tied it 9-9 just 10 seconds later.

The game would stay tied until Kennedy scored her third on Reitman's second assist to make it 10-9 IU with 8:28 to go, but that would be the final goal of the game for the Macs. Meanwhile, the Aggies tied the game with 5:05 to go and scored the go-ahead goal with 2:36 remaining and held on to top the Macs, 11-10.

IU will now travel to Florida for a week of friendlies, including one against the Japanese national team, and their next game will take place next Saturday at Hood.
