The Macs were great out of the gates as they played a strong first quarter. The teams traded buckets early on and it was tied 8-8 midway through the period, but IU closed the period on a 7-1 run to take a six point lead to the second quarter. Laws hit back-to-back buckets, and following a free throw by the Ravens, Cocci buried a three-pointer from the top of the key to give the Macs a 15-9 lead going to the second.
Despite an early three-ball in the quarter by Kohutka that put the Macs back up by five, Rosemont took the lead midway through the quarter at 20-18, and they would not relinquish it the rest of the game. The advantage for the Ravens grew as large as six in the period, but the Macs stayed close and a Walsh layup with 23 seconds to go sent the game to the locker room with IU trailing, 30-27.
The deficit was still three points when Walsh hit a pair of free throws to trim the deficit to one, and it would be one point again after sophomore
Bailey Krewson hit a lay-up to make it 35-34, but the Ravens went on a 10-2 run that put them firmly in control of the contest at 45-36 with four minutes left in the third.
The lead got to 10 for Rosemont before a pair of free throws by Johnson made it 50-42 going to the fourth.
The deficit was at nine at 56-47 with 5:37 to go and IU mounted a charge with a 7-0 run to get within two points. Johnson hit a layup followed by a Cocci three and another baseline runner from Johnson to make it 56-54. The teams then traded free throws to keep it a two point game with two minutes to go, and Laws hit a layup following a Raven basket to keep it a two-point game.
Rosemont then hit another basket to go up 62-58, and following a Laws free throw, Laws hit another layup with 35 seconds to go to trim the deficit to one point. However, Rosemont hit a basket to go up by three, and the Macs turned it over with a chance to tie it and fell 65-61.
