RADNOR, Pa. – The Immaculata University's women's volleyball squad took an early 2-0 lead against Neumann University Tuesday night, but the visiting Knights staged a comeback to defeat the Mighty Macs, 3-2, inside Alumnae Hall in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play. HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set was extremely close as it took the Mighty Macs extra points to win the opener. The set was tied at 8-8 when the Mighty Macs went on a six-point run to open up a 14-8 lead. However, the Knights hung around and eventually evened the score at 22-22. It was tied twice more before a kill by Vizzard and a service ace from freshman Lex Poss gave the Mighty Macs the early advantage, 26-24.
- Immaculata was able to maintain a slim advantage during the second set and led, 16-13. The Mighty Macs pushed that lead to nine points (22-13) on a six-point run that included one kill by Vizzard, two blocks and one kill by senior Nicole Taylor, one kill and one block by senior Rachael Rockefeller, and one attack error by the Knights. After Immaculata got to set point, Neumann scored four-consecutive points, before the Mighty Macs were able to close the door, 25-20.
- The whole third set went back and forth between the two teams, and the score was all tied at 20-all. Coming out of the tie, Neumann won the next three points forcing Immaculata to call a timeout. The Mighty Macs won the next point, but the Knights got the side-out on IU's serve and won it 25-21 with an ace.
- In the fourth set, following a Neumann run to open up a lead, Immaculata would cut the margin back to one point, the last with the Knights leading 15-14. It was then that Neumann won six-straight points to build a 21-14 lead. Immaculata got to within five, but Neumann went on to even the match at 2-2 with a 25-18 win in the fourth set.
- Neumann opened the fifth set with four-straight points and a 7-3 lead. However, a 5-1 run by Immaculata that featured two kills by Vizzard, one kill from Zdradzinski and one ace by Poss evened the set at 8-8. The Knights won four-straight points and seven of the next nine for the 15-10 win to take the match.
