SCRANTON, Pa. – Immaculata University's women's basketball had its modest two-game winning streak halted on Saturday as the Mighty Macs headed to Marywood University where the host Pacers won the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest, 78-54.

Amber Ballinger and
Tess Kieffer led the way for the Mighty Macs (2-10, 2-2 CSAC) with 14 points each. Ballinger also grabbed five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Tamyra Laws paced the team on the glass with 11 rebounds and finished off the double-double with 10 points. Laws also had two blocked shots and two steals.
Annie Kohutka grabbed seven rebounds while chipping in four points and two assists.
Gina Cocci handed out a team-best six assists.

The Mighty Macs and Pacers played a close first quarter that had the Mighty Macs leading at times. After scoring the opening basket of the game, Marywood evened the score at 2-2 with a pair of free throws. Immaculata retook the advantage with 7:47 to play as Ballinger buried a three-pointer. The Pacers responded with a three-ball of their own, but Ballinger again answered for the Mighty Macs with another three for the 8-5 lead with 7:16 to play. Marywood took its first lead of the contest as it scored five-straight points for the 10-8 lead at the 5:09 mark. The Mighty Macs trailed 12-10 at the end of the first quarter after
Theresa Walsh and Ballinger each sunk a free throw during the final five minutes.

After Marywood (8-6, 4-1 CSAC) pushed its lead back to five (15-10), Kieffer scored four-straight points for Immaculata as the guests trimmed the deficit to one, 15-14, just over two minutes into the quarter. Ballinger then gave the Mighty Macs the lead back as she connected on a layup with 7:01 to go in the quarter. The two teams then traded baskets as Immaculata clung to a one-point edge, but Kieffer was able to push the Mighty Macs' lead to three (20-17) after connected on a pair of free throws with 6:13 remaining. The half ended with Marywood scoring 15 unanswered points, and the Pacers held a 32-20 lead at halftime.

After seeing Marywood push its lead to as many as 17 (43-26) with 6:08 to play in the third quarter, Immaculata trimmed its deficit to eight (46-38) by the 2:37 mark. Kohutka had four points for the Mighty Macs, while Kieffer and Ballinger each had three points in the spurt, and Cocci accounted for the other two points. Immaculata remained within eight with 1:14 to go in the third quarter, but Marywood ended the stanza scoring five points for a 53-40 lead heading into the final 10 minutes.

The Pacers continued to grow their advantage in the fourth quarter as they came away with the 78-54 victory.

Immaculata finished the game 25.4 percent from the field and 76.2 percentage from the free throw line. Marywood was an impressive 47.3 percent from the field, 54.5 percent from three-point range, and 74.1 percent at the line.
