Field Hockey Falls At Wilkes

Box Score

EDWARDSVILLE, Pa.- The Immaculata field hockey team struck first on Wednesday night in a non-conference road game at Wilkes (5-3), but the home team would score the next five straight and the Mighty Macs (3-4) were unable to recover in a 5-1 loss.

Senior Brittany Robertson registered her team-leading third goal of the season on an assist from junior Megan Donegan.  Senior goalkeeper Sarah Pasternak registered a season-high 20 saves for IU, while freshman Layne Kennedy led the team with two shots on the cage.

Robertson scored the goal for the Mighty Macs 5:53 in on the helper from Donegan to stake them to a 1-0 lead.  That would last until the 11:41 mark when Wilkes got on the board, and they added goals in the 22nd and 24th minutes to make it 3-1 at the break.

The score would hold there until late in the second half when Wilkes added goals in the 60th and 61st minutes to get to the 5-1 final.

The Mighty Macs will return to Draper Walsh Stadium on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game against Wilson.
