CHESTER, Pa. – Immaculata volleyball played from behind Thursday night and almost forced its match at Widener to a fifth set, but the host Pride closed out the fourth set for the 3-1 win. Widener took the match with set scores of 25-12, 25-18, 20-25 and 26-24.

Arden Vizzard led the Mighty Macs (1-7)Â with 15 kills and 23 digs.
Shelby Belk finished with seven kills and three blocks.
Nicole Taylor,
Olivia Zdradzinski and
Rachael Rockefeller all added four kills. Zdradzinski also had 29 assists and six digs, while Rockefeller posted three blocks.
Tess Kieffer had three blocks for the Mighty Macs.
Molly Truitt made 20 digs.

Widener got out in the first set, 10-2, and cruised the rest of the set.

Immaculata and Widener traded leads in the second set. The Mighty Macs were ahead, 13-12, when the Pride strung together an eight-point run for the 20-13 advantage. Immaculata held off three set points before Widener won the set, 25-18.

The Mighty Macs won 10 points in-a-row in the early portion of the third set for a 14-7 lead on the Pride. Immaculata was able to maintain its lead with Widener only inching to within three, and the Mighty Macs won their first set to extend the match.

Immaculata had to play catch-up in the fourth set, but eventually tied the score at 13-13. The Mighty Macs held a slim two-point edge for a majority of the set, and eventually got to set point on the Pride at 24-21. However, the Pride ended the set on a five-point run to avoid the decisive fifth set.

Immaculata heads to Wilkes on Saturday for a tri-match starting at noon. The Mighty Macs will face Staten Island at 2 p.m.
