Men's Lacrosse Wins Second Straight; Defeats Keystone 16-7

LA PLUME, Pa. – Immaculata's men's lacrosse team picked up its second win in-a-row on Saturday as the Mighty Macs traveled up to Keystone to claim a 16-7 victory against the Giants in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.
 
An eight-goal run by Immaculata during the third and fourth quarters cemented the win. The Mighty Macs are now 5-8 overall and 2-3 in the CSAC. Keystone falls to 1-8, 1-4 CSAC.
 
Mike Reardon led the Mighty Macs with seven points on the day as he scored three goals and made four assists. Reardon also had four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Brendan Doyle and Sam Zingaro each finished with three goals and two assists. Doyle added five ground balls and was 2-for-2 on face-offs. Zingaro picked up three ground balls.
 
Brian Shultis and Tyler Black each recorded two goals and one assist, and Black collected six ground balls while Shultis tallied four. Black also went 15-for-24 on face-offs. Matt Krewson scored twice to go along with four ground balls. Christian was the other Immaculata players to score with one goal and one assist to add to his four ground balls.
 
Jake Kemble was relentless on the Keystone attack with six ground balls and seven caused turnovers. John Abruzzo and Jonathan Kopistecki each picked up four ground balls, and Abruzzo caused two Keystone turnovers. Christian Custodio made eight saves to preserve the win in goal.
 
Immaculata went ahead 2-0 on Keystone just 1:17 into the contest as Black and Reardon each scored unassisted. However, the Giants tied the game at 2-2 with 7:54 to play. The Mighty Macs broke the tie just two minutes later as Reardon set Doyle up for the score, and with 3:39 remaining in the quarter Reardon scored off a feed from Zingaro as Immaculata led, 4-2, at the end of the period.
 
Keystone scored three straight goals to start the second quarter to take its first and only lead of the game, 5-4, with 13:21 to go. Immaculata answered with three goals of its own, including two scores on man-up opportunities for the 7-5 halftime edge.
 
Following Doyle giving the Mighty Macs a three-goal lead (8-5) with 13:31 remaining in the third quarter, the Giants cut their deficit back to two with 8:56 to play. Krewson's score at the 7:13 mark of the third quarter started the eight goal run by the Mighty Macs. Zingaro scored all three of his goals during the runs. Doyle scored the final marker for Immaculata with 4:03 left in the contest making the score 16-6.
 
Keystone got one goal back with 3:13 remaining, and that was how the contest finished.
 
Immaculata wraps up the non-conference portion of the schedule Wednesday traveling to Moravian for a 4 p.m. game.
