Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa.- After seeing a late lead slip away, the Mighty Macs (1-4) needed some overtime heroics and sophomore
Brendan Doyle was there to provide them with his fifth goal of the day to give Immaculata a 12-11 overtime victory over Bryn Athyn (0-1), their first of the season.

After several close calls in their first four games, the Mighty Macs finally broke through at Draper Walsh Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Doyle led the way with five goals and one assist, while sophomore
Tyler Black also had four goals of his own. Freshman
Christian Fisher had five points on two goals and three assists, and sophomore
Mike Reardon had a goal and an assist.

Christian Custodio made ten stops, and senior
John Abruzzo led the way with six groundballs.Â

Both teams were slow out of the gates, but the Lions finally broke the scoreless tie with two goals within 41 seconds to take a 2-0 lead with 5:37 remaining in the first.

Doyle then put the Macs on his back and scored three straight goals, the first at the 4:29 mark, second at 3:11, and the final tally with four seconds left in the quarter to put IU up 3-2 after one.

Bryn Athyn would score back-to-back goals to re-take a 4-3 lead with nine minutes before the break, but Immaculata would take the lead to the locker room with the final two goals of the period. Fisher scored on an assist from sophomore
Brian Shultis, and Black's shot to the top corner beat the keeper and put IU in front, 5-4, midway through the contest.

After halftime, the Lions tied the score early in the period, but the Macs would score three straight to build their lead to 8-5. Doyle scored his fourth of the contest less than a minute after the Lions tied the game on an assist from Fisher.

The lead grew to two goals after Black and Fisher each tallied their second goals of the game midway through the period. The Lions got one back with 6:29 to go in the third, and IU took an 8-6 lead to the final quarter.

Bryn Athyn netted their second straight to cut the deficit to one at 8-7, but Black would score his third and fourth goals of the game around another Bryn Athyn goal to stake the Macs to a 10-8 lead with 4:25 to go in the game.

Reardon extended the lead out to three goals with a tally at the 2:51 mark on an assist from Fisher, but the Lions staged a furious rally with three goals in a 1:06 span to tie the game at 11-11. A last second shot from Reardon was wide, and the game would go to the overtime period.

The Macs will now head back on the road this Saturday with a trip to Wilkes at 4 p.m.
