Women's Lacrosse Falls In CSAC Contest To Cabrini

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata's women's lacrosse team suffered its first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) loss of the season Wednesday afternoon as visiting Cabrini defeated the Mighty Macs, 18-4, at Draper Walsh Stadium.
 
Immaculata slips to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in CSAC play, while Cabrini stays perfect in league play at 3-0 and 5-2 overall.
 
The visiting Cavaliers scored the first three goals in the opening eight minutes for the early lead. Immaculata got one goal back with 18:44 to play in the first half as Brittany Whaley scored. However, Cabrini would go on to score six straight goals for a 9-1 lead 10 minutes left in the half.
 
Immaculata added one more goal before halftime as Shannon Neill scored on a feed from Hannah Verrecchia with 9:32 remaining. Cabrini ended the period on a four-goal run, and led at halftime, 13-2.
 
The Mighty Macs scored with 10:24 and 2:49 to play on goals from Amanda Maher and Verrecchia.
 
Christine McIntyre made 14 saves in net for the Mighty Macs. She also picked up three ground balls.
 
Immaculata continues its four-game home stand on Tuesday, March 29, when Gwynedd Mercy comes into Draper Walsh Stadium for a game under the lights beginning at 7 p.m.
