Box Score GALLOWAY, N.J.- The Immaculata baseball team kept rolling as they collected their seventh straight victory behind a great effort from three pitchers on a windy day for a 2-0 road victory at Richard Stockton (2-11) on Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore
Trevor O'Brien (2-1) went a career-best seven innings and allowed six hits while striking out three before giving way to junior
Kyle Bacher for a shutout inning, and senior
Nick Campione came on for his fourth save of the season with a perfect ninth inning.
The shutout was the first of the season for the Mighty Macs (11-7) after they had one last season in a win over Marywood.
Junior left fielder
Jason McCormick (2-for-4, 2B) and junior catcher
Dom Ficca (2-for-3) each had a pair of hits for the Macs.
Stockton had two of their best chances in the first two innings, but O'Brien found his way out of trouble. The Macs had good chance in their half of the third as senior
Rick DiDomenico singled and was waved home on a double by McCormick, but he was cut down at the plate to keep the game scoreless.
O'Brien cruised through the third and worked around two runners in the fourth before IU finally broke through in the fifth.
Junior right fielder
Howie Kalamets (1-for-4, R) singled with one out and moved to third base on a single by
Dom Ficca. Sophomore second baseman
Pat Devenney then brought him home with a successful squeeze to give them a 1-0 lead.
O'Brien escaped the fifth unscathed and would retire the final seven hitters he faced as he closed out an impressive seven innings in the best start of his young career.
IU added a key insurance run in the eighth, as sophomore
Adam Connor walked and stole second with one out, and came around to score on an error to extend the lead to 2-0.
Bacher worked around two singles in the eighth and Campione shut the door quickly in the ninth with two strikeouts and a fly out.
The Macs will look for their eighth in a row on Wednesday when they host Muhlenberg at 3:30 p.m. at the IU Baseball Field.
