Box Score ASTON, Pa. – Following a tight first half, the third period proved to be the difference maker as Neumann defeated Immaculata women's basketball, 79-62, Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
The Mighty Macs had three players score in double digits.
Reilly Larkin led the way with 22 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Tamyra Laws recorded a double-double with 20 points, a team-leading 11 blocks and three blocked shots.
Dia Veneziano added 12 points to the Immaculata effort.
Tess Kieffer grabbed seven rebounds, and
Bailey Krewson handed out three assists.
After Neumann took its largest lead of the first period with 3:10 to play, 15-8, Immaculata cut its deficit to one (15-14) in just under one minute. Veneziano, Larkin and Laws all had layups on back-to-back-to-back possessions for the Mighty Macs. The Knights scored four points to end the period, and the hosts led 18-14 at the end of the first quarter.
The Mighty Macs were within one basket of the Knights during the first three minutes of the second period. However, Neumann went on a 7-0 run to give the Knights their first double-figure lead (30-20) at the 5:25 mark. Immaculata cut it to four twice on three-point plays by Larkin before heading into the halftime locker room down 39-34 as Larkin scored the final eight points of the half for the Macs.
Neumann pulled away in the third period as it outscored Immaculata, 20-9. The Mighty Macs didn't score during the final 4:51 of the period, while Neumann was held scoreless for a span of 3:56.
The Knights pushed their advantage to 21 (66-45), the largest of the contest with 6:44 to play in the game. The Might Macs cut the lead to 14 (72-58) with 2:35 to go, but that was as close as they could come.
Immaculata closes out the season on Saturday at 3 p.m. traveling to Cairn.
