Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa. – Despite two players scoring in double figures, Immaculata women's basketball fell at home in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action to Gwynedd Mercy, 66-46, Monday night.
Reilly Larkin paced the two Mighty Macs with a game-high 19 points, while
Tamyra Laws, getting her first starting nod for the Mighty Macs, registered a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Theresa Walsh also added eight points and 11 rebounds.
The Mighty Macs (4-15, 4-6 CSAC) kept pace with the Griffins during the opening period and held the lead on several occasions before Gwynedd Mercy scored the final four points for a one-point lead, 16-15, at the end of the first.
Gwynedd Mercy (15-4, 9-1 CSAC) started the contest on a 5-0 run, and held its largest lead of the first period (11-5) with 5:10 to play. Immaculata turned it on with a 7-0 spurt sandwiching layups by Walsh around a three from Larkin to take a one-point edge (12-11) with 2:28 left. Immaculata held the advantage until the buzzer as Larissa Leyes put in a fastbreak layup for the one-point Gwynedd Mercy edge.
Immaculata regained the advantage in the opening minutes of the second period but following a 19-all tie, Gwynedd Mercy outscored the Macs, 13-6 during the final 6:11 for the lead at the break.
Immaculata trailed by just seven points (32-25) at halftime, and the team trimmed it to four (38-34) with 5:22 to go in the third period. However, the Mighty Macs would go cold the rest of the period as the Griffins built up a 12-point advantage, 46-34, heading into the final period.
Gwynedd Mercy continued to distance itself during the final 10 minutes before ending the contest with its largest lead of the game.
Immaculata wraps up a four-game home stand Wednesday evening hosting Keystone at 6 p.m. The Mighty Macs will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day with a youth sports clinic at 4 p.m.
