Box Score RADNOR, Pa. – Immaculata University women's basketball returned to Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action Tuesday evening after a one-month layoff with a 53-32 road loss at Cabrini College.
Theresa Walsh registered a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead Immaculata (2-9, 2-1 CSAC) in both scoring and on the boards. Walsh also added a team-high three assists and two steals.
Reilly Larkin had eight points, five rebounds and a team-high four steals.
Bailey Krewson finished with six points and eight rebounds.
Cabrini (6-6, 3-0 CSAC) scored the first six points before Larkin knocked down one free throw to get Immaculata on the scoreboard. Walsh stole the ball from a Cavalier player and went in for a fast-break layup with 6:27 to play in the first period as the Mighty Macs trailed 9-3. Cabrini would stifle Immaculata the rest of the period as the hosts held a 17-3 lead after the first 10 minutes.
The Cavaliers maintained a 14-point edge (21-7) at the midway point of the second period when the Mighty Macs began to put together a run. Immaculata scored seven points, including 4-for-4 from the line, to trim its deficit to seven (21-14) with 1:13 left before halftime. The Cavaliers hit a 3-pointer during the final minute to have a 10-lead at the break, 24-14.
Immaculata cut Cabrini's lead back to seven twice in the early going of the second half as Walsh converted on a three-point play to start the third period and later had a jumper to make the score 27-19. After Cabrini scored with 7:21 remaining in the third, both teams went silent until sunk one of her free throw attempts at the 3:45 mark. Cabrini hit a three in the final seconds of the period to lead by its largest margin of the game up to that point at the end of the third, 39-24.
The two squads traded baskets during the final period before Cabrini pulled ahead at the end for the 53-32 win.
Immaculata opens a two-game home stand on Thursday hosting Cairn at 6 p.m. inside Alumnae Hall.
