Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's soccer team bounced back from a pair of early non-conference losses with a hard-earned 1-1 draw at home at Draper Walsh Stadium against Wesley (1-0-2). The Mighty Macs (0-2-1) lost their last game 3-2 in overtime at Penn State-Abington.
The Macs had good pressure early in the game as they generated some chances, but they were unable to break through until the 30
th minute. Freshman
Morgan McDonough made a good run with the ball and was taken down in the box, earning a penalty kick for IU. Junior
Erica Buckley stepped up and went for the right side of the net and scored her second goal in as many games to give the Macs a 1-0 lead that they would carry into halftime.
Immaculata continued to lead through most of the second half as they fended off a series of corner kicks from the Wolverines, but Wesley evened the score in the 75
th minute. Kaitlyn Ennis took a free kick from just inside midfield and Janiah Davis finished it on the other end to tie the game at 1-1 as her header beat senior goalie
Elizabeth McBride.
The score would hold at 1-1 and the Macs went to overtime for their second straight game.
In the extra frames, the Mighty Macs staved off a couple Wolverine attacks to keep the game tied and earn the draw.
Immaculata was outshot 20-17 and McBride had four saves in goal.
Immaculata will stay home this coming Thursday as they host Widener at 6 p.m.
