Women's Soccer Downed by Stockton Ospreys in Season Opener

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata women's soccer fell to the Stockton University Ospreys 2-0 on Thursday evening in their season and home opener, despite no score from either side in the second half.

The Mighty Macs are 0-1 for the season. Their first AEC match will be on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Centenary (N.J.).

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST STOCKTON
  • Although the Mighty Macs had a couple of shot attempts early, the Ospreys' offense took control with a goal in the 16th minute. Devan Cosgrove recorded a save to keep Immaculata in the match, but a second goal got past the Mighty Macs' defense moments later. Both sides were relatively quiet, as halftime drew near. The visitors were up 2-0 after 45 minutes.
  • Addi Husenica checked in at goal to open the second frame. Immaculata attempted an offensive drive with multiple shots and corner kicks. As the two teams battled the physicality of the other, Stockton was assessed a yellow card in the 66th minute. Even though Gracie Repici nearly converted a goal, it went off the crossbar. The Ospreys won 2-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Flora Hernandez and Natalie D'Alfonso led the team with two shots apiece.
  • Immaculata had more corner kicks than Stockton, 6-4.
  • Cosgrove started in goal and made two saves. Husenica played the second half in the net and logged three saves.
