Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa.- After opening their Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) schedule last Saturday, the Macs (0-10) returned to non-conference play on a muggy afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium and the visiting Colonels of Wilkes University (6-4) defeated the Mighty Macs by a score of 4-0.
Immaculata had six shots on the game and junior goalie
Sarah Pasternak had 13 saves in just under 60 minutes of work in the cage. Sophomore Alexiss Goeller had a defensive save for IU.
Wilkes got on the board in the seventh minute as Marissa Surdy got her first goal on the day as she collected a centering pass and slid it past Pasternak for the 1-0 lead.
IU countered with a couple shots off of corners from sophomore
Cayla Williams and junior
Haley O'Donnell, but they were unable to find the first half equalizer.
The Colonels would add another in the 29
th minute on a penalty corner, again off the stick of Surdy, for a 2-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, the Macs were unable to get anything going, and Wilkes added two goals in the second half to deal IU the 4-0 defeat.
Junior
Emily Beavers played the final ten-plus minutes of the game in goal and made one save.
The Mighty Macs will stay home on Thursday as they host DeSales at 4 p.m. in their Pink Game.
