SCRANTON, Pa. – Immaculata University softball traveled to Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Marywood Monday afternoon and dropped both ends of the doubleheader to the Pacers, 7-1 and 8-7.
 
The Mighty Macs (3-13, 3-3 CSAC) scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning of game two to take their only lead, 7-6. However, the Pacers answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to earn the sweep. Kelsey Collevechio delivered a bases-clearing double to plate three of the five runs of the inning for Immaculata. Melissa Ejk has a sacrifice fly to score the first run, and Caitlin Hudock's single scored Collevechio for the final run.
 
Marywood started its half of the seventh with a double, and followed that with two singles to secure the 8-7 win and sweep of Immaculata.
 
Brittany Merkle and Hudock were each 3-for-4 in the nightcap. Annemarie Bartow went 2-for-3. Collevechio and Hudock each produced three RBIs.
 
Meghan Kugler pitched the first six innings allowing six hits, three earned runs and striking out four batters.
 
In the opener, Immaculata pushed one run across in the sixth inning as Hudock hit a sac fly.
 
Paige Hughes was the only Mighty Macs to collect more than one hit as she was 2-for-2.
 
Caitlin Brasier started in the circle lasting four innings. She allowed six runs, one earned, on eight hits and struck out two Pacers. Kugler tossed two innings with one hit and one unearned run.
 
Immaculata is scheduled to play Notre Dame (Md.) tomorrow afternoon beginning at 3 p.m.
